The G4 Titanium screen hinge assemblies attaches to these mounts, which in turn attach to the palmrest or lower case assembly. This mounts rarely fail by themselves but often will bend slightly when screen hinges fail. The bend cannot be straightened as the mounts will break; if bent, the mounts must be replaced.

New hinges attached to a bent mounts are prone to failure. PowerBook Guy advises checking the mounts carefully for trueness when replacing failed hinges.
